The world's largest virtual
cataloging meeting
Register to attend session two
You asked, we listened. Based on your feedback, we’ve split this event across two days so the content is easier to digest and easier to fit into your schedule.
We're hosting a two-part virtual OCLC cataloging community meeting on Tuesday 22 September and Wednesday 23 September.
Welcome (session two of two)
Morag Boyd, Director, Metadata Applications and Engagement, OCLC
Metadata Panel: Transforming cataloging workflows with Snapicat, a new tool using the WorldCat Metadata API
Inspired by innovative tools developed within the library community, Boston Public Library (BPL) has created Snapicat: a software solution that leverages the WorldCat Metadata API 2.0 to query spreadsheets of bibliographic data against OCLC’s database. BPL will explore how they’ve strategically integrated Snapicat to optimize cataloging workflows and manage metadata at scale to gain intellectual control over its vast collections, and how these changes have expanded the reach of catalogers through partnerships with non-cataloging staff. They will also offer insights into how other libraries can envision a place for Snapicat in their work to achieve similar successes, all while highlighting how streamlining batch metadata collection and retrieval empowers cataloging staff to redirect their time, energy, and expertise toward the complex cataloging challenges that require true human ingenuity.

Hello everyone,
Thank you all for your interest in the OCLC Catalog Community Meeting. It was great hearing from everyone who attended yesterday in Webex or via Livestream.
We anticipate an equally strong turnout today and expect the Webex to fill to capacity quickly. If you’d like to join via Webex, please plan to join early.
For those who are unable to join the Webex, we will offer a livestream again. You can access it through this link: oc.lc/occm-livestream.
The event will begin at 11:00 AM EDT again. Please note that the livestream is often muted by default when you join, so if you cannot hear anything check the volume in the bottom right corner of the streaming screen.
There is also a question submission form below the livestream, and we will be monitoring these submissions for questions throughout the session. We will answer as many as time allows. We look forward to seeing you tomorrow for another great session!
