We're hosting a two-part virtual OCLC cataloging community meeting on Tuesday 22 September and Wednesday 23 September. Welcome (session one of two)  Morag Boyd, Director, Metadata Applications and Engagement, OCLC  Metadata Panel: Community implementation of Official RDA  With the retirement of the Original RDA Toolkit planned for 11 May 2027, libraries around the world are preparing for the transition to Official RDA. Through a case study of the German-speaking library community's implementation experience, attendees will learn about key decisions, challenges, and strategies that supported a successful transition. Welcome (session two of two)  Morag Boyd, Director, Metadata Applications and Engagement, OCLC  Metadata Panel: Transforming cataloging workflows with Snapicat, a new tool using the WorldCat Metadata API  Inspired by innovative tools developed within the library community, Boston Public Library (BPL) has created Snapicat: a software solution that leverages the WorldCat Metadata API 2.0 to query spreadsheets of bibliographic data against OCLC’s database. BPL will explore how they’ve strategically integrated Snapicat to optimize cataloging workflows and manage metadata at scale to gain intellectual control over its vast collections, and how these changes have expanded the reach of catalogers through partnerships with non-cataloging staff. They will also offer insights into how other libraries can envision a place for Snapicat in their work to achieve similar successes, all while highlighting how streamlining batch metadata collection and retrieval empowers cataloging staff to redirect their time, energy, and expertise toward the complex cataloging challenges that require true human ingenuity.  Panelists:  Jay Colbert, Special Projects Manager, Boston Public Library, USA  Mike Williams, Cataloging and Processing Manager, Boston Public Library, USA  Discussion hosted by Kate James, Program Coordinator, Metadata Engagement, OCLC    OCLC cataloging products and services update  Previewing Connexion 4.0: Faster, smarter, and built for the future  The upcoming release of Connexion 4.0 will deliver a faster, smoother, and more reliable cataloging experience. Amy Brown, Senior Product Manager, will showcase what you can expect to see in this new version and discuss the benefits of the main upgrades. Highlights include the ability to run multiple sessions, insert WorldCat Entities to enrich records, streamline macro editing and navigation, simplified installation, and more.  Panelist: Amy Brown, Senior Product Manager, OCLC    Making WorldShare Record Manager even more accessible for all  Amy Brown will provide a preview of the new Record Manager interface which significantly improves accessibility.  Panelist: Amy Brown, Senior Product Manager, OCLC    OCLC’s BIBFRAME Editor: Current progress and what to look forward to  OCLC’s metadata expertise is always expanding. Morag Boyd will present an update on the progress made towards OCLC’s BIBFRAME editor and what to expect next.  Panelist: Morag Boyd, Director, Metadata Applications and Engagement, OCLC    New CONTENTdm   CONTENTdm by OCLC is the digital collection management platform that helps libraries, archives, museums, and other cultural heritage institutions make their unique collections visible, accessible, and connected. Join Senior Product Manager Jess McIntosh to learn how the new platform shines a light on unique collections and empowers digital collection staff to achieve more with their work.  Panelist: Jessica McIntosh, Senior Product Manager, OCLC   Please note: This page reflects session two.
