cataloging meeting
Register to attend session one
You asked, we listened. Based on your feedback, we’ve split this event across two days so the content is easier to digest and easier to fit into your schedule.
We're hosting a two-part virtual OCLC cataloging community meeting on Tuesday 22 September and Wednesday 23 September.
Welcome (session one of two)
Morag Boyd, Director, Metadata Applications and Engagement, OCLC
Metadata Panel: Community implementation of Official RDA
With the retirement of the Original RDA Toolkit planned for 11 May 2027, libraries around the world are preparing for the transition to Official RDA. Through a case study of the German-speaking library community's implementation experience, attendees will learn about key decisions, challenges, and strategies that supported a successful transition. The session will also provide an update from the RDA Steering Committee Chair on available resources and considerations for libraries planning their move to Official RDA.
Panelists:
Discussion hosted by Kate James, Program Coordinator, Metadata Engagement, OCLC
WorldCat quality updates
Laura Ramsey and Kate James will provide updates on WorldCat enrichment and deduplication impacts from our machine learning model. They'll also share cataloging tips from Metadata Quality staff, clarify metadata policies and workflows, and invite attendees to upcoming AskQC office hours.

I have not been able to join this webinar, despite having my registration approved. I receive a message that states the webinar is 'full' whenever I try to join. Is there always a maximum capacity for these online events? If so, have more people been approved than can be accommodated?
We apologize for the frustration. The Webex is at capacity, but you can join the livestream here: https://community.oclc.org/t5/cataloging-community-meeting/ct-p/cataloging-meeting-livestream-access.
The meeting is being recorded and all registrants will receive a link to the recording when it is ready.
Thank you for getting back to me. I've joined the livestream now.
Will tomorrow's session also be available via livestream, in case I encounter the same issue? If so, could you please let me know where I can find the link?
I'm so glad you were able to join.
Yes, the session will be available via livestream. The livestream link has been added to the Cataloging Community Meeting homepage, so you will be able to join by click the headphone icon or using the same link I shared above. The join form will be removed from that page after the session ends today, but will be added back at 10:00 am EDT tomorrow morning.
Thank you for attending the meeting today, and we hope to see you tomorrow!
