We’re officially into fall and I don’t know about anyone else but, personally, that means finally starting to dig in to the seasonal comfort movies. I suspect I'm not alone - so beyond the thematic collections every month, you’ll also find the shelves rotating out to showcase some of our all-time top performers. As always I’ll continue to expand the collection in terms of both breadth and depth, but I’m also going to aim to ensure our core of beloved films and show doesn’t get lost in the mix among all the newest titles.
In some personal news, I’ll also be organizing a film distribution panel during the Rehoboth Beach International Film Festival in Delaware for the second year in a row, which runs from November 2nd through the 9th, so if anyone is in the area please consider this my invitation to come and check us out! Film festivals are a great way to stay on the pulse of new releases from around the world.
As for October on CloudLibrary Video specifically, our shelves lead off again with Hispanic Heritage Month which continues through the 15th:
Hispanic Heritage Month:
This SXSW Audience Award Nominee follows Ayar, a first-generation American Latina, returns home to reunite with her daughter. Her mother, Renata, refuses to let her see her due to COVID-19, and Ayar is confronted by the many roles she's been forced to play.
Fall Travel:
This 2016 BBC docuseries reveals how the Silk Road was the world's first global superhighway where people with new ideas, new cultures and new religions made exchanges that shaped humanity.
Halloween Horror:
This acclaimed horror comedy is a festival darling from 2016 - suffering from delusions of fortune, a young hermit hides out in the forest hoping to crack an ancient mystery, but pays a price for his mania.
Film of the Month:
For October our film of the month is from our Hispanic Heritage Month collection:
An award winning drama from Chile - Raúl tries to get closer to his neighbors, visits a bar near his home, and spends some time in the neighborhood square, where he meets a lady with whom he establishes a strange relationship.
As always, you can expect to see each of these titles, and more, appear right here on the biblio+ homepage
