We’re officially back!

After our October soft launch to make sure that all the technological pieces were in place, the video newsletter is back in action.

Since being acquired by OCLC this past April, myself and the rest of the cloudLibrary team have been focused primarily on migrating everything over into new systems.

The Community Center is one such project. From now on you will see all of the newsletters posted here as well as the associated marketing materials and prepared assets to share across social media or your own library newsletters.

I’ll also be sure to share new developments in content or across the product in general here as well.

One final piece of news is that I’ll be hosting a panel on film distribution at the Rehoboth Beach Film Festival on Saturday November 9th at 5:30pm, so anyone who happens to be in the area please do swing by!

The cloudLibrary Video themes for November are below:

Native American Heritage Month:

In 2017 thousands of tribal and non-Indian protesters traveled from all corners of the country and the globe to push back against a planned pipeline project. Dramatic confrontations between Native American protesters and riot-clad law enforcement became an international symbol for Native Americans' fight for sovereignty and self-determination over its own lands.

US Politics:

howard zinn.jpgHoward Zinn: A People’s History of the United States

With the tremendous success of his book, A People's History of the United States, Howard Zinn radically changed the way Americans see themselves. His friend Noam Chomsky says that Zinn literally transformed a generation's conscience. Zinn talks about those who have no voice in the official History : Slaves, Indians, deserters, textile workers, union men. Towards the end of his life, Howard Zinn said , ''I want to be remembered as someone who enabled people to experience hope and power something they never did before.''

Trans Awareness Week (11/13):

We've also handpicked a selection of powerful documentaries around Trans Awareness Week, led off by:

kumuhina.jpgKumu Hina

An exploration of gender diversity, tradition and acceptance in Hawaii as a transgender teacher supports an outwardly female student in leading an all-male hula performance despite the confusion of some in their Honolulu community.

You can expect to see each of these titles, and more, appear right here on the biblio+ homepage
