For July’s programming, I wanted to bring in the video-equivalent of beach reads, so we’re running a romance-heavy selection, which means pulling from our Harlequin adaptations, our Hallmark Channel classics, and everything in between.
All of these shelves will run for the entire month.
Christmas in July:
Snowbound for Christmas
From our collection of Harlequin romance adaptations, Snowbound for Christmas follows Rachel, an assistant who’s in love with her boss Adrian, on a work trip just before the holidays. A storm strands them in a five-star hotel where they are the only guests, and it's the perfect opportunity to get closer.
Summer Romance:
Somewhere in Time
Throwing it back to 1980 with the classic romance starring Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour, Somewhere in Time is about a Chicago playwright uses self-hypnosis to travel back in time and meet the actress whose vintage portrait hangs in a grand hotel.
Environmental Focus: Documentaries:
And then lastly, as summer temperatures rise, to balance our programming out we’re surfacing a handpicked selection of environmental documentaries meant to inspire appreciation for our environment and insights about our current climate moment:
Galapagos
Narrated by the likes of Tilda Swinton and Tom Hiddleston, this celebrated BBC mini-series outlines the history of the Galapagos Islands in 3 episodes, from their creation, to Darwin’s visits and study, to their modern day inhabitants.
Film of the Month:
Our film of the month for July comes from our Christmas in July selection, for those who may want to beat the heat with a light and refreshing romance:
A Very English Christmas
Christmas in the English countryside wasn't in Emma's plans until her sister, Amy, plans her wedding for Christmas Eve. Dylan, Amy's co-owner of their Christmas market, teams up with Emma to bring order to the whirlwind wedding.
