Welcome to our now officially launched Community Center page for video!
A bit about the purpose of these newsletter posts for anyone encountering them for the first time (or those who may remember them before our acquisition by OCLC):
At the beginning of every month I will be posting which thematic shelves you can expect to see as well as a representative title from each that your patrons may be interested in, as an entry point.
Additionally, with the launch of our new CloudLibrary social media accounts, I’ll be sharing any relevant posts that would be worth sharing with patrons via your own library newsletters or social media accounts. Those links will be at the bottom of each of these newsletters.
I’ll also mention any film industry news that may be of interest - such as selections for the Berlin Film Festival being announced on Feb. 4th.
Thank you for reading - please find our February video themes below:
Black History Month:
Running for the entire month of February will be our Black History Month shelf, a selection primarily of documentaries meant to explore the black experience in America. Leading off the selection is:
Mother of Kings
From Josetta Shropshire, the Atlanta-based director and advocate for black filmmakers, this documentary highlights one of the most influential women in the world from the perspective of the people who loved her: Alberta Christine Williams King, Mother of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Valentine’s Day (2/14):
You’ll then see the Valentine’s Day shelf surfaced onto the homepage just in time for a romantic weekend, a selection of titles from Hallmark, Harlequin, and the romance experts at Nicely Entertainment, including:
All Things Valentine
This Hallmark Channel Original follows a romance blogger with terrible luck in love - until she meets a handsome veterinarian. When she finds out that he's the one who's been leaving rude comments about her articles, however, she begins to question whether her luck has really changed at all.
Festival Favorites:
Continuing our “awards season” showcases, this month we will also be featuring films that took the film festival circuit by storm on release, such as:
The Days of Abandonment
Based on the Elena Ferrante novel, and a big winner at the Venice Film Festival - this adaptation follows Olga as she falls into self-degradation and self-destructive behaviors after being left by her husband for a younger woman. From director Roberto Faenza, known for his many literary adaptations over the past 30 years.
You can expect to see each of these titles, and more, appear right here on the biblio+ homepage
